When Nelson Mandela made a state visit in the Philippines, he sought an audience with Luis Taruc because he said when he was in jail in South America he got a copy of Born of the People written by Luis Taruc. The book inspired him and motivated him to fight for the black people's freedom, he got the idea on how to organize and move the people to fight for freedom and deliverance.
