RESOURCE AND ARCHIVE DIVISION

FUNCTIONAL STATEMENT
In memory of the human rights victims (HRVs) during the Martial Law period and in service to the Filipino people, the Resource and Archives Division shall:

● Select and acquire different formats of library materials about Philippine Martial Law and other related publications such as but not limited to human rights, transitional justice, sociology, biography,       history, culture, and other fields of study under social sciences, including Gender and Development (GAD) or Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) and other reading materials for     professional, personal development or recreational needs of the employees or human rights victims; 

● Organize library collections using standard indexing, cataloging and classification tools/system, and prepare the materials for circulation;

● Appraise, arrange and preserve vital documents of the defunct Human Rights Victims Claims’ Board (HRVCB), specifically the reparation/recognition records of the state-recognized human rights victims (HRVs) of Martial Law, including the Board decisions and proof of violations; and other sources with archival values relevant to the mandate of the agency;

● Create finding aids to facilitate easy access and retrieval of requested information using standard archival description;

● Keep integrated system or institutional repository updated;

● Provide circulation or reference and information services to the public for purposes of research, academic and creation of information, education and communication (IEC) materials;

● Promote the use of library and archives; and

● Extend professional technical assistance, training or user education about archives, library and information science and other related topics.
